Experiential Learning
|
In experiential learning, participants are placed in the middle of the action where, through active involvement, individuals can best learn about themselves and other members of their team. It can be viewed as developing people ‘from the inside’ to be more effective at work and in their personal lives. An experienced facilitator leads the session ensuring a trusting and fun environment where participants are encouraged to openly share thoughts and feelings.
|
Action and ExperienceExperiential learning engages the individuals at different levels.
Engagement involves the use of action-oriented or problem-solving activities that have a team or an individual complete a task within a defined set of rules.
|
Reflect and FeedbackParticipants can draw upon their immediate experiences to foster insights and awareness of how they and others behaved, as well as how they felt and reacted in various circumstances.
They are challenged to identify what worked well and what could be improved. |
Apply and ExperimentThrough discussion, participants are urged to reflect on how they can apply the insights to their work environment or personal life.
Key insights may be awareness of how one's behaviour and attitude affect others, appreciation of others' strengths, uncovering the source of ineffective teamwork and other crucial discoveries. |
